The new front end reminds me of the old Jetta City.
You know, the MK IV Jetta with the front clip styled to look like a mix of B5.5 Passat and MK V Jetta. It's less apparent in the pictures, but the front clips of both cars look incredibly tacked on in person.

But yeah, I see what you mean actually, the rest of the car doesn't fit the design language of the front. Reminds ME a lot of the old QX56, where it was basically an Infiniti Grill and headlights attached to a Nissan Armada body:
